London, UK – May 2013: The e-shelter data centre, Frankfurt 1, is now connected to the expansive network of IX Reach, the colocation and remote peering specialists. This new connection enables e-shelter tenants to gain seamless access to IX Reach’s expansive MPLS network across Europe and the US, as well as extensive Metro within Frankfurt and other cities, and connectivity to major Internet Exchanges such as AMS-IX (Amsterdam), LINX (London), Telx (New York), LU-CIX (Luxembourg) and the latest addition to their portfolio of IX partners, UAE-IX (Dubai).
“We are extremely pleased with our newly established partnership with e-shelter and to add another PoP to our growing network in Frankfurt and Germany in general. Frankfurt is an extremely important European, and Global hub for business and telecoms and an important core location in IX Reach’s network. From the popular e-shelter location, our customers will be able to access all IX Reach services, including our signature remote peering product and low latency routes to Amsterdam and London. We’re very excited to see what this new partnership will bring”, says Steve Wilcox, Founder and Director of IX Reach.
In addition, the e-shelter campus in Frankfurt is now directly connected to the German Internet Exchange, DE-CIX, and tenants will also be able to order dedicated, secure direct connections into the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform via IX Reach.
“With these connections our tenants are able to respond even more flexibly to their current needs”, summarises Wendelin Meyer-Moelck, Managing Director Sales at e-shelter facility services GmbH. “We are convinced that this partnership is especially interesting for hosting and cloud service providers. The e-shelter tenants have not only access to large international peering platforms, but they can easily turn a private cloud into a hybrid cloud”, adds Meyer-Moelck.
This partnership has further improved IX Reach’s already extensive Frankfurt Metro network by adding another connection on its robust platform, bringing the total number of PoPs up to 14; therefore improving reliability and resiliency by having redundant fibre routes. Operators are also offered an even wider choice, via IX Reach’s Metro service, for reaching different facilities in Frankfurt and therefore able to interconnect with more carriers, CDNs, networks, ISPs, cloud services and financial enterprises.
